Incarcerated Bob

So 2 days ago it was announced, unofficially, on the Boomer & Carton show (Wfan) that long time, popular caller Incarcerated Bob was dead. It was reported on his twitter, by his "sister", that on his way home from Atlantic City on New Years Day he was hit and killed by a drunk driver.

The news made me pretty upset as Incarcerated Bob is very knowledgeable of sports and his calls were are well thought out as well as hillarious. Also, according to his twitter, Bob had saved $1,500 to donate to The Boomer Esiason Foundation for cystic fibrosis. The news deeply touched co-host (the legendary) Boomer Esiason who claimed it was the saddest moment in the shows history. At the moment it was...

Tweets to follow the announcement commemorated the caller's life, to the effect of, "Bobby you will be missed & now you fly with the angles... Your sister will always remember the good times & your memory will never fade." The Huffington Post ran an article on Bob's death.

Turns out, Incarcerated Bob is NOT dead and someone hacked into his twitter account and was playing a joke. Not a cool joke, but when I heard Bob's voice today I almost died myself, with laughter. On Wfan this morning with B & C, Bob said he was visiting his father and when he got home his phone was "goin off the hook with messages." And "real NYPD detectives" were trying to contact him. Upon hearing the news of his death, he reacted, "You tryin to put me out like that?!" And despite the claim about having $1,500 saved up for BEF was false, Bob did say he was going to donate the money anyway.

The best line from Bob was "I don't even have a sister that's the funny thing man. "
If you go to The Boomer and Carton website you can listen to the whole call. Just click on "Incarcerated Bob Lives!"

It was awesome to hear his voice today and I'm really glad it was a joke cause Incarcerated Bob is the man.
